Join One Step Away and Chickie’s & Pete’s May 15 and help us go the distance to Knock Out Homelessness in Philadelphia. Hosting the event is former light heavyweight champion and Philadelphia legend Matthew Saad Muhammad, inspired by his own true story of homelessness and redemption. Past Knock Out Homelessness events have featured special appearances by former Phillies great Darren Daulton, Olympic hero Carl Lewis, former cruiserweight champion Nate Miller and many others, as well as boxing legend Joe Frazier.

You can also help Knock Out Homelessness in your community. One Step Away's Knock Out Homelessness event is built around Chickie's & Pete's interactive gaming complex, where people who want to help break the cycle of homelessness engage in video boxing matches for charity. Several area high schools have joined One Step Away and are throwing "Knock Out Homelessness" events in their communities, with a portion of the proceeds going to One Step Away's efforts to fight homelessness. All it requires is a few Wii or Playstation gaming systems, a place to stand and the desire to fight homelessness.

If you'd like to throw a "Knock Out Homelessness" event in your community, please contact One Step Away's director Emily Taylor at emilyt@rhd.org or 215-951-0300 (ext. 3595).
